Voids in the Pews
When the pandemic numbers rose in March of 2020, our worlds changed. The times of worship, public life, and socializing, shopping, it all changed. slowly sliding into new normals. There was a Sunday in the spring of 2020 when I was leading The Lord's Prayer during worship online, no one in the sanctuary but my memories of who sits where and their voices in mind's eye. I stopped praying and began listening to the memories resting in my mind of them praying it in unison, remembering. . .
Now, in the role of pastoring when we see spots in the sanctuary, people in their regular "pew" missing sometimes from those seats, it makes me pause in the void.
God's beloved. Shepherding.
