Erin Marcks
Guitarist
Erin is a church member who
also plays guitar for worship. Erin is
a recently retired former speech pathologist for the Ellsworth School District. Erin and her husband Ross have one adult son. Erin
enjoys photography, reading, knitting, sewing and other creative outlets.

Mikkel Gardner
Pianist
Mikkel has played piano for Sunday services since 2011 at the RW United Methodist Church. He has helped with many forms of musical worship leadership most of his life as a conductor, keyboardist, and percussionist.
Mikkel recently retired from being a music teacher in the Red Wing School district since 1987. Most of that time he was the RWHS Choir Conductor. He recently changed positions and is now the Burnside Elementary Music Specialist.
Mikkel has been married to Carol. He enjoys watching his two children turn into kind, thoughtful, and creative adults. Some of Mikkel’s hobbies include traveling with his wife, spending time on the water (sailing, paddle boarding, canoeing), enjoying the company of good friends.
Kim Cory
Music Director
Kim Cory has been a lifelong church musician, starting at age 11 playing the organ for Mass. She grew up in Paynesville, MN, graduated from UM-Duluth in 2000 and received her Masters in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary’s University in 2004. She has taught Music Education in Benson, Jordan, and Ellsworth before coming to Red Wing to teach vocal music at Twin Bluff Middle School in 2007. Since 2011, she has been the Director of Music for First United Methodist Church where she is the organist and directs the Chancel and Bell Choirs.
Kim was previously the Director of Music at First Lutheran in Red Wing and, with her family in 2009, joined United Lutheran & began to direct the Bell Choir. Continuing in that role, Kim also became the coordinator/leader for Worship and Praise band-led services in 2013.
Kim enjoys spending time with her husband Scott and their four children: Emma, Riley, Elsa and Eliana. Kim serves on the negotiation’s team for the Education MN-Red Wing as well as on numerous school and district-wide committees. She finds that 1st UMC is a wonderful place to make connections with our community and has a beautiful focus on relationships and the Word.
Jane Stone
Care and Senior Connections Coordinator
Jane grew up in this church and is always looking for ways to serve the church that played so prominently in her spiritual development. She has a master’s degree in education and is a retired middle school teacher. Jane taught Sunday School for 29 years and has served on every committee within our local church. At the district level, she served five years as District Lay Leader and eight years on the District Committee on the Superintendency. At the conference level, Jane serves on the Lay Ministry Action Team and Elected Leader Team and also serves as the Lay Servant Ministries Registrar. As a certified lay speaker, she provides pulpit supply as requested in other churches. Jane has a special interest in caring ministries and is excited to serve as our church Care Coordinator!
Jane is married to Bob, an experienced member of our church Board of Trustees. They have two adult children and two grandchildren. In her spare time, Jane enjoys spending time with family, reading, writing, baking, and watching the birds and other wildlife that share their wooded property.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AND FACILITIES STAFF
Hazel Muller
Custodian
Hazel is our church co-custodian. She enjoys reading and is very interested in WWll History since her father was a
paratrooper during the war. Hazel is married to Tom and enjoys sewing and bicycle riding.
Bill Lanigan
Maintenance
Bill is our current church maintenance
expert, and he just began helping us in May 2016. He
has been a substitute custodian with the Red Wing public schools for seven
years and keeps things up and running
for all of us. Bill is married to Debra and he likes all sports, gardening,
photography, camping, fishing and ice cream.
Lois Marschall
Custodian
Lois is our other co-custodian. She grew up in Red Wing and attended 1st UMC until moving out of town in 1974. Returning to Red Wing brought her back to our church family. She enjoys gardening, sewing, camping, bicycling and bread making. She feels honored to be part of the team that cares for our beautiful church building.
